What is personal data and what does it cover?

What personal data do we process?
We collect personal data that you provide voluntarily, for example, when using our website and completing online forms to contact us, subscribing to a newsletter, using one of our online advisor tools, subscribing to receive marketing communications from us, investing in our funds, participating in surveys, registering for events that we are organising or applying for a job at Liontrust.
The information we collect about you may include the following:

- Data on the company you work for, including regulatory details – e.g. FCA authorisation information on the company and its regulated individuals

- Your basic profile information, this is determined by your selections when you first arrive on our website e.g. your country of location and visitor type
- Your preferences, e.g. Liontrust teams and funds you have told us you are interested in, pages you have bookmarked
- Your interactions with our marketing communications, e.g. whether an email has been opened and/or clicked
- Information on your interactions with us
For investors in Liontrust funds, the following additional information may be held to allow us to provide our services to you and meet regulatory requirements:
- Identity verification. We will use information provided by third parties (e.g. fraud prevention agencies) when verifying the identity of our fund investors and when carrying out anti-money laundering checks. Such information may include their nationality and identification records (e.g. passport information). It may also include some details about any criminal convictions and any allegations regarding criminal activity that relate to the individual, as well as details of status as a politically exposed person
- Contractual details, including information we have collected as part of the products and services we provide to you
- Financial information, such as payment-related information
- Where permitted in accordance with local law, we may also in some circumstances record telephone conversations
- Any other personal data that you voluntarily choose to provide to us in your interactions with us
In addition to the above, the Liontrust website uses cookies so that we can provide you with the best possible user experience. We maintain the accuracy and completeness of the personal data we hold. Use of third parties
Where personal data is being processed by a third party on Liontrust’s behalf, Liontrust will have contractual arrangements in place to protect any such personal data - in line with the applicable data protection laws and regulation. Where any processing is done outside of the UK Liontrust will ensure appropriate protections are in place to safeguard your data privacy before any processing commences.
Protecting your data
Liontrust protects the confidentiality and security of information it obtains in the course of its business. Access to such information is limited, and policies and procedures are in place that are designed to safeguard the information from loss, misuse and improper disclosure.
Data retention
Our policy is to retain personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in the section “Purposes for which we process personal data.” Note that retention periods vary in different jurisdictions and are set in accordance with local regulatory and legal retention requirements. How to complain
